Okay, so for sidebar, what I basically did is this:
I stacked two photos that are almost the same on Photoshop. Saved them as one single image. The top photo is the one that will show when the mouse isn’t hovered. The bottom photo shows up when it’s hovered. That is easy. The tricky part is the coding. I had to try a lot of things before I could find a suitable code where the image doesn’t load or lag while you hover the mouse. What I managed to cook up is this:
HTML:

Instead of an “img src” HTML, I put in a link format. The “About” thing doesn’t matter. It will disappear later.
CSS:
.profilepic {
background: url(‘http://static.tumblr.com/ls5fqgx/ZrIm56ir7/me.png’) no-repeat scroll transparent; }.profilepic:hover {
background-position: 0px -170px; }
The hover thing depends on the background position element in the :hover value. So that’s all, I guess. Just play around with those numbers until the hovering looks seamless. :) Oh, I did the same thing with the blog title:
