Q&A

dearlittlewallflower asked: I just want you to know your tumblr is very lovely and it makes me happy like the smell of new books does.

A high praise! Thank you! :)

Anonymous asked: post/44862599878/ ; Hello there darling! c: Does the sky often look like that most of the time in Washington? It looks so beautiful, wow.

Yes! At least during the past almost-two months that I’ve been staying here. I guess it’s going to be finer skies during the spring/summer, but yeah, right now even if the sun’s out, the clouds take over most of the time.

Anonymous asked: I enjoy your mixes on 8tracks :) we have the same music taste! can I make a request? my girlfriend and I are in a long distance relationship and I was wondering if you can make a mix for that kind? sorry for bugging! thanks if you’d say yes :)

I’ve been at work on the mix as soon as I read your request! Thank you for the idea! I’ve been wanting to create a new mix lately.

I’m afraid I don’t have much long-distance songs, though, but I managed to gather a few. :)

Track list:

  1. “Days & Days” - Camera Can’t Lie
  2. “Contagious” - Boys Like Girls
  3. “Leaving on a Jet Plane” - Chantal Kreviazuk
  4. “Summer Cat” - Billie The Vision & The Dancers
  5. “Wake Up” - Coheed and Cambria
  6. “Jet Lag” - Simple Plan feat. Natasha Bedingfield
  7. “A Plain Morning” - Dashboard Confessional
  8. “Stay Where I Can See You” - The Starting Line
  9. “If It Means a Lot to You” - A Day to Remember feat. Sierra Kusterbeck

It’s nearing Valentine’s and sure, it’s to celebrate love (and Saint Valentine), but why can’t we heartbroken singles also use it to celebrate our closeted bitterness that we can’t let out the rest of the 364 days of the year? I mean, seriously. We’re always expected to be OK but we’re often lonely and Valentine’s Day, whether we admit it or not, will always be the salt on the wound.
So I made a mix on 8tracks to celebrate the cynicism and hatred for old loves and our loneliness. We can stop trying to be OK for this one day of the year. Give the brave face a rest, plug in Bridget Jones’ Diary, and pour hot fudge over a pint of Ben & Jerry’s. Screw the rest.
“Break Your Little Heart” - All Time Low
“Sending Postcards From A Plane Crash (Wish You Were Here)” - Fall Out Boy
“Dance Floor Anthem (I Don’t Want To Be In Love)” - Good Charlotte
“Misery” - Maroon 5
“King of Wishful Thinking” - New Found Glory feat. Patrick Stump
“That’s What You Get” - Paramore
“Catastrophe” - Forever The Sickest Kids
“Unwell” - Matchbox Twenty
“Gives You Hell” - The All-American Rejects
“Cold Hard Bitch” - Jet
“A Friendly Goodbye” - Bowling For Soup
“Loneliest Person I Know” - Splender
“A Decade Under The Influence” - Taking Back Sunday
“Do It Alone” - Sugarcult
“Trade Mistakes” - Panic! At The Disco
“Blue Skies” - Noah & the Whale
…Of course, ending with something optimistic.

My biggest playlist is a mix of “on the road” songs that has escalated to a controlled but whooping 87 songs. And with that, I’d like to present some of the best ones to play while driving, in my humble opinion. I hope that these would get you going, too.
Some of them are the really cliché and classic road trip songs, such as #2, #5, and #8, but I still hope that they would do fine just the same, and serve their purpose.
“Taste For Danger” - Third Eye Blind
“Highway To Hell” - AC/DC
“Four Winds” - Bright Eyes
“City” - Billie The Vision & The Dancers
“There She Goes” - The La’s
“A Kiss Before I Go” - Ryan Adams & The Cardinals
“Put On Your Sunday Clothes” - Michael Crawford
“Escape (The Piña Colada Song)” - Rupert Holmes
“Car Crash” - Matt Nathanson
“Glad Girls” - Guided By Voices
“The World Ain’t Slowin’ Down” - Ellis Paul
“All This Beauty” - The Weepies
“Us” - Regina Spektor
“Where I’m Going” - Cut Copy
“New York, New York” - Ryan Adams
“Folkin’ Around” - Panic! At The Disco
“Crash” - Matt Willis
“(Ready Or Not) Omaha, Nebraska” - Bowling For Soup
“Horchata” - Vampire Weekend
“Hello, Brooklyn” - All Time Low
